Flaring is one of the biggest climate challenges in the oil and gas industry. 139B cubic metres is flared annually. Methane contributes 25% of gas flaring and is 80 times more potent than CO2. The World Bank is leading with the Zero Routine Flaring initiative.
Gas Flaring
As a renewable source of energy, hydroelectricity represents a significant opportunity for Africa. With less than one tenth of 1860 MW of hydropower utilised, investment and revenue is needed to maximise usage to reduce the cost of supply.

In Sub-Saharan Africa 70% of the population face challenges in accessing electricity. 53% of the population (600M people) have no access at all. Centralised supply is often inefficient and uneconomical. New revenues are needed for expanding and upgrading supply efficiency.
