The Opportunity - Electricity

Electricity Access

In Sub-Saharan Africa 70% of the population face challenges in accessing electricity. 53% of the population (600M people) have no access at all. Centralised supply is often inefficient and uneconomical. New methods are needed to expand and upgrade supply efficiency.

Countries throughout the world rely on gas-powered turbines for electricity generation. The opportunity exists to support the capture, and redirection, of flared gas to fuel electricity in remote regions. This action alone can bring electricity to thousands of people in remote areas.

At NRG Bloom our goal is to unlock the potential of stranded energy, turning it into a revenue stream that can be reinvested to strengthen electrical infrastructure and expand supply. We are taking best practices, seen from across the world and deploying these methods in West Africa.
