NRG Bloom - empowering Africa

Nigeria is one of the top 10 gas flaring locations globally, recently flaring 1.2TN cubic feet of gas in 4 years and missing out on $3.9BN of gas revenue. Almost half of the population has no access to electricity and supply is often unstable. The result is regular outages and use of backup fossil fuel generators. Considering Nigeria’s attributes, we see the potential to transition to an energy mix powered by grid, hydro, solar and flared gas. By tackling flared gas we aim to help reduce soil temperatures and human respiratory complications found in gas flaring regions. Through Bitcoin, NRG Bloom aims to generate revenue for investment in clean energy and to power initiatives for regeneration in our operating regions.
