Nigeria is one of the top 10 biggest gas flarers globally, flaring 1.2TN cubic feet of gas in 4 years and missing out on $3.9BN of gas revenue. Almost half of the population has no access to electricity and supply is unstable leading to regular outages and use of fossil fuel generators. Considering the environment around Nigeria, the potential exists for power from hydroelectric, grids and flared gas. The effect could be the reduction in soil temperatures and human respiratory complications found in gas flaring regions. Through Bitcoin, NRG Bloom aim to generate revenue for investment in clean energy and to power initiatives for regeneration in the region.
